Hector Lombard Defeats Kalib Starnes at Australia CFC "Down Under":

"Hector wasted no time in getting the fight to the floor, delivering a ground and pound attack until Starnes had enough. The ref stopped the fight in round one."

"Hector has now reeled off 11 straight wins and has not suffered a loss since 2006. Look for Hector to defend his Bellator title in 2010."

Bellator champion Hector Lombard to face Kalib Starnes on Oct. 9

By Jacob Camargo September 27, 2009Bellator middleweight champion Hector Lombard will return to action for the first time since June to take on former UFC fighter Kalib Starnes at a Cage Fighting Championship event on Oct. 9 in Queensland, Australia. News of the bout was first reported by MMAWeekly.com.
Bellator Fighting Championships cleared Lombard to compete in the bout against Starnes. Lombard is the second Bellator FC champion to land a fight outside the promotion as featherweight champion Joe Soto will fight Mike Christensen on Oct. 8. Bellator has been allowing its champions to take fights outside of the organization as the promotion isn't expected to begin its next season until March 2010.
Lombard is no stranger to the Cage Fighting Championship organization as he won the promotion's middleweight title and is unbeaten in six bouts with the organization. He put together a 5-0-1 record with the CFC prior to joining with Bellator, gaining wins in the promotion over the likes of Tristan Yunker and Brian Ebersole.
Lombard (21-2-1) has put together an amazing 15-fight unbeaten streak and is coming off an impressive performance in Bellator FC's inaugural middleweight tournament, earning wins over Virgil Lozano, Damien Stelly, and most recently Jared Hess in June en route to earning a $100,000 paycheck.
The Pride and Deep veteran, Lombard, has not lost a fight since being defeated by current Strikeforce light-heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi in November 2006. Also of note, he has finished 16 of his 21 career wins including 11 by TKO or KO.
Starnes (9-3-1) is coming off a win over Chris Cisneros at last November's Destiny MMA debut event in Hawaii. Prior to the win, he was released from the UFC after losing two straight bouts against Nate Quarry and Alan Belcher.
However, its the loss to Quarry at UFC 83 that fans most remember Starnes for. The Canadian put forth an embarrassing and highly controversial performance by running and back pedaling from his opponent nearly the whole fight due to a broken foot he suffered in the first round of the bout.
Despite the poor performance at UFC 83, Starnes showed promise in previous fights by finishing all but one of his nine career wins. He holds notable wins over Jason MacDonald and Chris Leben.*Content originally appeared on FiveKnuckles.com

Kalib Starnes Comeback?

I was at UFC 83 and witnessed Kalib Starnes back peddling against Nate Quarry. In retrospect, Kalib Starnes was more active in his bout than Anderson Silva and Thales Leites and also, David "The Turtle" (formerly Crow) Loiseau were at UFC 97.That was the fight (or lackthereof) which saw Kalib Starnes' UFC contract eliminated and so he was sent packing, similar to what happened to Vinny Magalhaes after his decision loss at UFC 97 to fellow TUF contestent, Elliot Marshall. The good news is that the UFC is still interested in Starnes and hopes that he is able to rebound by picking up a few wins outside of the UFC before getting the nod from Joe Silva to fight on a future UFC card.I enjoy Kalib's moxy and hope to see him back on top again because the UFC really needs a lot of help in the Middleweight division right now.

This is Horrible-Ha Ha Horrible That Is

The sad thing is the fight is still better than both Kimbo's and Kalib Starnes' last fight. The sadder thing is that the fight lasts as long as it does-how come he can't knock this kid out? The saddest thing is that the MMA fighter was willing to take the fight.

Who Did This Guy Actually Beat?

Supposedly this guy sports a record of 200-0 using his mystical Kiai powers. He challenges any MMA fighter to a fight for $5000. After watching the beginning of the video it almost makes you think that maybe he has a chance, lets just say my mind is changed very quickly. What is even more depressing is that he seems to think his powers will work. Though I do still think he could take out Kalib Starnes.

Kalib Starnes and Travis Lutter should be fired immediately

Before I say what must be said, I need to let you know how much respect I have for any man or woman that competes in mixed-martial arts. Every fighter from the local promotions all the way up through the UFC sacrifice a great deal to become fighters.

That is why I was so sickened by what I saw Saturday night. Kalib Starnes and Travis Lutter should be ashamed of their performances and both should be terminated from their UFC contracts. As a matter of fact, as I write this, Kalib Starnes has been released from his UFC contract. I can only hope that Travis Lutter is next.
